Retail trade volume in Cyprus shows annual growth despite monthly decline in June 2026

According to data released by Eurostat on August 6, 2026, the volume of retail trade in Cyprus recorded a 5.0% increase in June 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. This annual performance surpasses the broader trends observed across the European Union and the Eurozone, where retail growth stood at 1.2% and 0.7% respectively.

However, on a month-to-month basis, Cyprus saw a 1.0% decline in retail trade volume in June 2026 compared to May. This contraction follows a volatile first half of the year, which included a 3.7% increase in May and a 0.9% decrease in April. The monthly decline in Cyprus was notably sharper than the 0.3% drop recorded in the Eurozone and the 0.1% decrease reported for the European Union as a whole. Data for the first half of 2026 indicates varied economic activity, with annual growth rates peaking at 8.9% in January before stabilizing to 5.0% by June.
