Limassol launches major water supply network replacement project

The Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA Limassol) officially commenced a project to replace 100 kilometres of the city's aging water supply network on Thursday, 6 August 2026. The initiative aims to address frequent system failures and high water losses that have impacted the downtown area, stretching from the Enaerios area along Makariou III Avenue to the Central Fire Station.

The project, which carries a budget of €9.2 million and is co-financed by the European Union under the 'THALIA 2021-2027' cohesion policy program, covers approximately 220 roads. The infrastructure upgrade will serve around 40,000 residents across a 2.6 square kilometre zone. Work includes installing modern piping materials, excavations, and subsequent road and pavement restoration to improve overall water quality and reduce operational costs.

Following the launch, EOA Limassol announced the first in a series of service disruptions. A scheduled water supply outage is planned for Friday, 7 August 2026, from 07:00 to 14:30. This interruption will affect the area north of the 2nd Technical School, specifically impacting streets including Filippou Konstantinidi, Vasileiou Kousouli, and others.
