Critical injuries after Nicosia traffic accidents
A series of serious traffic accidents occurred in Nicosia over the past week, leaving several individuals in critical condition. In the early hours of August 7, a 16-year-old on a scooter was struck and seriously injured in Aglantzia by a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man, who was later found to have a blood alcohol level of 73µg%, significantly exceeding the 22µg% legal limit. Police also arrested the driver’s wife for allegedly providing false statements by claiming she was the one behind the wheel during the collision.
Additionally, a 22-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical condition following a motorcycle collision with a car on the Delikipos-Lythrodontas road on August 8. Furthermore, on August 10, two motorcyclists were hospitalized after a collision at the intersection of Spyrou Kyprianou and Nikis avenues in Nicosia. Authorities are currently investigating all incidents, and several arrests have been made regarding separate alcohol-related traffic offenses recorded across the region during the same period.
