New 'Love Corner' established in Koili, Paphos

The community of Koili in the Paphos district has officially inaugurated a new landmark known as the 'Love Corner' (Gonia tou Erota). Located at the Sfalangas site (coordinates VF53+VW5), the initiative aims to celebrate the village's cultural identity while creating a new tourist attraction for visitors from Cyprus and abroad.

The location was chosen due to its historical significance in local tradition, as it served as a traditional meeting point for young people in the village. According to community authorities, the site was the setting for many friendships and romances that eventually led to family unions. By establishing this spot, the community seeks to honor these historical social ties while providing a space for modern visitors.

Visitors are now invited to leave a 'love lock' at the site, a tradition popularized in many cities worldwide, to symbolize friendship or lifelong commitments. The community council has issued an open invitation for the public to visit the location to explore the village's history, take photographs, and contribute to the site’s growing legacy.
