Cyprus accounts for 0.2 percent of European Union GDP in 2025
Official data from Eurostat published on Thursday in the 'Key figures on Europe 2026' edition reveals that the Republic of Cyprus contributed 0.2 percent to the total European Union gross domestic product in 2025. The nation's GDP was valued at 36.48 billion euros for the year. This placement keeps Cyprus among the smaller economies of the 27-member bloc, sharing the same 0.2 percent contribution rate as Estonia and Latvia. Malta recorded the lowest contribution within the union at 0.1 percent.
The overall European Union economy reached a valuation of 18.8 trillion euros in 2025. Germany remains the largest economic driver, accounting for 23.8 percent of the total output with a GDP of 4.5 trillion euros. Other major contributors include France at 15.9 percent (2.991 trillion euros), Italy at 12.0 percent (2.258 trillion euros), and Spain at 9.0 percent (1.687 trillion euros). Meanwhile, Greece contributed 1.3 percent to the total EU GDP.
These findings provide a comprehensive overview of the economic landscape across the bloc, highlighting the disparities in output between larger member states and smaller nations.
