New board of directors appointed for the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation

The Cypriot Council of Ministers has officially appointed a new Board of Directors for the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC), following recommendations from the Advisory Council. Renowned journalist Pavlos Pavlou, who previously served as the institution's vice-president since April 2026, has been elevated to the position of president.

Alongside Pavlou, the board includes vice-president Michalis Charakis and members Andri Prodromou, Myria Papoutsou, Katerina Gavriilidou, Elena Stavrou, Polykarpos Kyriakou, Ioannis Tsangaris, and Avraam Solomou. The appointees possess diverse backgrounds in law, political science, journalism, business administration, and dentistry. This restructuring aims to refresh the leadership of the national broadcaster.

Pavlos Pavlou brings significant experience to his new role, having worked at CyBC from 1968 to 1992. His career includes serving as a news anchor and producer for programs such as "Panorama" and "Dialogos," as well as leading the news department for the Third Program. He holds a degree from the State University of New York and has completed specialized training at the BBC and CNN.
