Beach Waterpolo Limassol 2026 concludes with record participation
The Beach Waterpolo Limassol 2026 tournament concluded on the Old Port jetty in Limassol, Cyprus, following a three-day event held from July 31 to August 2. Marking its 11th anniversary, the event operated under the auspices of the Limassol Municipality as part of the 'Lemesia' festival and recorded a record-breaking participation of 43 teams from Cyprus and abroad.
The competition featured 21 teams in the Open category, 12 in the Corporate division, and 10 in the U14 youth category. Athletes represented eight different countries, including Greece, Romania, Serbia, and Hungary. In the Open category, the team XM secured first place, followed by Neapolis University Pafos in second and the Sea Apes in third. Winners in the other categories included the 'Helononizakia' team in the Corporate section and Pafos Pro in the U14 category. In addition to the matches, the event featured skill competitions focusing on shot speed, accuracy, and goal creativity.
The tournament continues to establish Limassol as a hub for international sports. Beyond the competitive aspect, the organizers integrated environmental and social initiatives into the program, reinforcing the long-standing tradition of this annual coastal athletic gathering.
