Student kills eight in school shooting near Bangkok

A 14-year-old student carried out a mass shooting in the Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok, on Friday, August 7, 2026. Prior to arriving at the Debsirin Nonthaburi school, the perpetrator allegedly killed his grandparents using the grandfather's handgun. At the school, he opened fire, resulting in a total death toll of eight people. While local police reported that three teachers and three students were killed inside the school, the Deputy Interior Minister, Polapee Suwunchwee, stated that five teachers had died. Police confirmed the shooter fired 26 times, with 34 additional cartridges found at the scene, and that the minor perpetrator ended his own life after the attack.

This incident is the second school-related shooting in Thailand in 2026, following a previous attack that left one teacher dead and one student injured.
