On July 28, a powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, resulting in approximately 38 fatalities and over 120 injuries. The seismic activity caused significant damage, including a factory chimney collapse and an explosion at a commercial center. Surveillance footage from a hospital in Kumamoto City captured the moment the earthquake hit while a surgical procedure was in progress. The video shows medical staff immediately shielding a patient under general anesthesia by embracing the operating table to prevent injury as the room shook violently. The surgical team paused the operation briefly due to the tremors but successfully resumed and completed the procedure once conditions stabilized. Following the disaster, the medical facility underwent checks and officially returned to full operational capacity on August 5.
