Road closures and construction works across Nicosia and Larnaca

Authorities in Cyprus have announced several road closures and maintenance projects across Nicosia and Larnaca in August 2026. In Strovolos, the junction of Alexandroupoleos Street, Strovolou Avenue, and Pythonos Street will be closed on August 8, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to facilitate improvements to Tseriou Avenue. During this period, traffic will be diverted via Elaionon, Tseriou, Athinon, Themistokleous, and Kantaras streets. Additionally, the Nicosia municipality is conducting asphalt replacement works from August 10 to August 13 in the areas of Engomi, Aglantzia, and Nicosia center, specifically affecting sections of Ilias Papakyriakou, Larnakos, and Christodoulou Sozou streets between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

In Larnaca, the District Administration of Local Government announced that a section of Eleftherias Avenue will be closed from August 24 to October 5, 2026, for the third phase of the sewerage system project. Furthermore, on August 7, maintenance work on the Ammochostos-Larnaca motorway between the Pyla and Oroklini exits required the closure of the right lane until 2:00 p.m. Drivers are urged to remain cautious, adhere to temporary road signage, and allow extra travel time. Local police and municipal authorities emphasize that these measures are necessary to ensure safety and improve local infrastructure.
