Road improvement and utility works causing traffic disruptions in Cyprus

Road improvement projects and infrastructure works are set to cause significant traffic disruptions across various regions in Cyprus throughout August 2026. In Strovolos, the intersection of Alexandroupoleos, Strovolos Avenue, and Pythonos will be closed on Saturday, August 8, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to facilitate the Tseriou Avenue improvement project. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes via Elaionos, Tseriou, Athinon, Themistokleous, and Kantara streets.

Simultaneously, the Municipality of Nicosia has scheduled partial road pavement replacements from August 10 to August 13. Affected areas include parts of Ilias Papakyriakou street in Engomi, Larnakos street in Nicosia, as well as Christodoulou Sozou, Vasileos Pavlou, Sofouli streets, and Kyrineias street in Aglantzia. Works will take place daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Furthermore, in Larnaca, a section of Eleftherias Avenue will remain closed for the third phase of the sewage system construction from August 24 to October 5, 2026. Authorities emphasize that all traffic management measures have been approved by the police and local municipal engineers to ensure public safety. Commuters are urged to follow temporary road signage and remain vigilant during these periods.
