Road maintenance and construction works across Cyprus
Recent road improvement projects across Cyprus have led to temporary traffic disruptions. On August 8, 2026, the junction of Alexandroupoleos, Strovolos Avenue, and Pythonos Street in Strovolos was closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Tseriou Street improvement works, with traffic diverted through Elaionon, Tseriou, Athinon, Themistokleous, and Kantaras streets. Simultaneously, ongoing water works by the Famagusta District Organization (EOA) have resulted in the closure of a section of Pernera Avenue in Protaras, extending from the Protaras–Cavo Greco traffic lights to the junction of Pernera and Pinias streets.
Additional traffic management measures were implemented on the Famagusta–Larnaca motorway, where a right-lane closure between the Pyla and Oroklini exits occurred on August 7, 2026, between 12:00 and 14:00. Looking ahead, the Nicosia Municipality has scheduled phased asphalt replacement works on city streets from August 10 to August 13, 2026, daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Furthermore, until September 30, 2026, ongoing irrigation works by the Forestry Department on various motorway networks, including Larnaca–Kofinou and Larnaca–Nicosia, will continue from Monday to Thursday between 08:30 and 14:30, involving partial shoulder closures that are not expected to significantly impact traffic flow.
