Traffic disruptions and roadworks across Cyprus in August 2026

Throughout August 2026, several road closures and maintenance projects are affecting traffic across Cyprus. In Nicosia, the intersection of Alexandroupoleos, Strovolou Avenue, and Pythonos Street in Strovolos is closed on August 8, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for Tseriou Avenue improvements, with traffic diverted through Elaionon, Athinon, Themistokleous, and Kantaras streets. Additionally, the Nicosia municipality is conducting asphalt replacement works from August 10 to August 13 in the Nicosia, Aglantzia, and Engomi districts, affecting streets such as Ilia Papakyriakou, Larnakos, Christodoulou Sozou, and Kyrenias between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

In Larnaca and surrounding areas, a section of Eleftherias Avenue will remain closed from August 24 to October 5 for the construction of the third phase of the Larnaca sewage system. On August 7, the right lane of the Famagusta-Larnaca motorway between Pyla and Oroklini was closed for maintenance between 12:00 and 14:00. Furthermore, the EOA Famagusta has closed the road from the Protaras-Cavo Greco junction to the intersection of Pernera and Pinias streets for ongoing utility works. Motorists are advised to observe temporary road signage and seek alternative routes to avoid delays during these scheduled infrastructure projects.
