Father returns to UK following death of toddler in Paphos

A 37-year-old man has returned to the United Kingdom from Cyprus following the tragic death of his three-year-old son, who fell from a hotel in Chloraka, Paphos. The father, who faces a charge of causing death due to a reckless or dangerous act, was granted temporary leave by the Paphos District Court to attend his child’s funeral.

His defense attorney, Alexandros Alexandrou, confirmed that the court and the Attorney General’s office allowed for the temporary lifting of travel restrictions, facilitating the return of the man's travel documents. The attorney noted that his client is in a severe emotional state and unable to fully comprehend the ongoing legal proceedings, which led to a request to postpone the plea hearing until the full evidentiary material is provided by the prosecution. Authorities in Cyprus are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall as the family prepares for the funeral in the United Kingdom.
