Annual cultural festivals begin in Lefkara and Nata

Two prominent traditional village festivals are set to commence in Cyprus this August, showcasing local culture, craftsmanship, and music. The 44th Lefkara Festival begins on August 7 and continues until August 22, filling the village streets with an extensive program of cultural events and exhibitions.

The Lefkara Festival opens with a silversmithing and embroidery exhibition at 7:30 pm, followed by a tribute concert to the late Greek singer Marinella, featuring Elena Giannakou, Liza Theofanous, and Christodoula Tsangara. On August 8, the festival hosts a concert with Thanos Petrelis and Eleftheria Eleftheriou, with ticket prices ranging from €20 to €25. The month-long schedule also includes a bridge tournament, a street food event, and local comedy sketches. Meanwhile, the village of Nata in the Paphos district celebrates the 31st Prickly Pear Festival on August 7, starting at 8:00 pm. This event focuses on local agricultural traditions and offers free fruit to attendees, highlighting Cypriot hospitality.

These annual gatherings are established traditions aimed at promoting local artisan skills and community tourism during the peak summer season. Organizers have curated diverse agendas to ensure entertainment for residents and visitors throughout the remainder of August.
