Father accused in toddler's death returns to UK for funeral

A 37-year-old father, currently facing charges related to the death of his three-year-old son during a family holiday in Paphos, has returned to the United Kingdom to attend the child's funeral. The District Court of Paphos approved a request by defence lawyer Alexandros Alexandrou to temporarily lift travel restrictions, allowing the man to retrieve his travel documents and leave Cyprus. The prosecution raised no objections to this humanitarian request, which was granted following a brief hearing period.

According to his legal counsel, the father is in a distressed emotional state and is currently struggling to follow the legal proceedings. The defense has requested an adjournment for the trial to allow sufficient time to review the full body of evidence provided by the prosecution. While the father has successfully traveled home to reunite with his family, the legal case concerning the circumstances of the toddler's death remains ongoing, with future proceedings expected as the defense prepares its response.
