Daniel Theis signs two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced the signing of German center Daniel Theis on August 5, 2026. The player has committed to a two-year contract with the Israeli club. The deal was finalized after a previously anticipated move to ASVEL failed to materialize at the last minute, allowing Maccabi to step in with a competitive offer.
During the previous EuroLeague season, Theis played for Monaco, where he averaged 9.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game, with a PIR of 12.2. Maccabi President Shimon Mizrahi and head coach Oded Kattash both praised the acquisition, highlighting the player's extensive experience in the NBA and European basketball, as well as his versatility and defensive contributions. Theis expressed his enthusiasm for joining the historic organization, noting his eagerness to contribute to the team's success.
This signing represents a significant boost for Maccabi’s roster as they prepare for the upcoming competitive season, following Theis’s decorated international career, which includes winning both the FIBA World Cup and the European Championship with the German national team.
