Chinese embassy supports Cyprus Red Cross with donation

On August 7, 2026, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cyprus provided a humanitarian donation of €3,000 to the Cyprus Red Cross. The donation was officially presented by the Chinese Ambassador to Nicosia, Yang Yundong, during a meeting with the organization's President, Fotini Papadopoulou, and other senior officials at the Cyprus Red Cross headquarters.

During the meeting, officials briefed the Ambassador on the multifaceted operations of the organization, with a primary focus on the Stella Soulioti Children’s Therapy Center. This center provides specialized services to children with developmental needs and supports their families. In addition to the monetary contribution, Ambassador Yang Yundong presented plush toys as a symbolic gesture of solidarity and care for the children residing at the center.

President Fotini Papadopoulou expressed her gratitude for the support, characterizing the donation as a significant enhancement of the organization's ongoing humanitarian mission. The event highlights the long-standing collaboration between the Chinese diplomatic mission and the Cyprus Red Cross in addressing social and humanitarian requirements.
