World War II veteran and EOKA fighter Pavlos Kasapis passes away at 103
Pavlos M. Kasapis, a notable veteran of the Second World War and a former fighter in the EOKA national liberation struggle, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the age of 103. His life was marked by significant contributions to modern Cypriot history, spanning his military service during the global conflict and his later participation in the liberation movement.
The Democratic Rally (DISY) party and the Artos House cultural center issued separate statements honoring his memory, describing him as a man of courage who dedicated his life to the ideals of freedom and justice. DISY leadership extended its condolences to his family, highlighting his lasting impact on the country’s history.
The funeral service is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Ayios Therapontos Church in Lythrodontas. The community and political figures continue to pay their respects to his legacy of service.
