Cyprus vehicle registrations report for July 2026

In July 2026, motor vehicle registrations in Cyprus reached 5,420, marking a 3.3% increase compared to the 5,246 recorded in July 2025, according to data from the Statistical Service. Private saloon car registrations saw a slight rise of 2.2%, totaling 4,244 units. For the broader period of January to July 2026, total vehicle registrations increased by 11.5% to 34,787, while saloon car registrations grew by 11.1% to 26,841 units, with used vehicles accounting for approximately 67.9% of that figure.

The data reflects a shift in consumer preferences regarding vehicle fuel types. During the January-July period, the market share of hybrid saloon cars climbed to 51.9% from 43.3% in the same period of 2025. Conversely, gasoline-powered vehicles saw their market share drop to 35.5%, while diesel and electric vehicle shares also experienced slight declines. Additionally, the report noted a 72.7% increase in bus registrations and an 11.8% decrease in rental car registrations, while moped registrations dropped by 25.8%. The Statistical Service further reported a 3.8% decline in new vehicle registrations alongside a 24.1% rise in used vehicle registrations for the year to date.
