Cyprus passport reaches 13th place in 2026 Henley Passport Index
The 2026 Henley Passport Index has ranked the Cypriot passport 13th globally, marking an improvement of one position compared to 2025. This ranking provides Cypriot citizens with visa-free access to 175 destinations, bringing the country closer to its historical peak of 12th place, which was previously achieved in 2006 and 2024.
In the broader rankings, Singapore holds the top position worldwide, granting its citizens entry to 192 destinations without prior visa requirements. Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates are tied for second place with access to 188 destinations, highlighting the increasing mobility influence of Asia and the Middle East. Meanwhile, Greece maintains a stronger position than Cyprus, ranking 5th with visa-free access to 185 countries.
The Henley Passport Index serves as a primary international benchmark for assessing travel freedom by calculating how many destinations a passport holder can access without a pre-travel visa. European nations, including Norway and Switzerland, continue to show a strong presence in the upper tiers of the list, reflecting ongoing trends in global international mobility.
