Cyprus repatriates 119 foreign nationals
Cypriot authorities, specifically the Police Aliens and Immigration Unit and the Deputy Ministry of Migration, coordinated the repatriation of 119 third-country nationals residing illegally in the country on August 7, 2026. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration and increase the rate of returns to countries of origin.
From January 1, 2026, to the current date, a total of 5,288 individuals have been repatriated through both voluntary and forced return procedures. Official statistics indicate a decrease in illegal arrivals for 2026, with 856 recorded cases compared to 1,299 during the same period in 2025. The police have announced their intention to continue prioritizing the removal of illegal residents in cooperation with other competent authorities.
