Nicosia Criminal Court postpones trial of German real estate agent

On Friday, the Nicosia Criminal Court granted a prosecution request to postpone the trial of a German real estate agent accused of usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus. The court scheduled the resumption of proceedings for September 7, 9, and 11, at 9:00 a.m. The prosecution justified the request by stating that essential witnesses were unavailable to testify due to planned vacations and health issues.

Simultaneously, the court rejected a request from the defense to lift the detention order against the accused. The defense had argued for her release based on the total duration of her custody, which has reached 26 months, including the time added by the recent postponement. The court concluded that there were no valid grounds to justify the defendant's release, and she will remain in custody throughout the duration of the delay.
