AEL and Anorthosis cancel friendly match ahead of league opener
AEL Limassol and Anorthosis Famagusta have officially cancelled their scheduled friendly football match, which was originally set for August 19. The decision was mutual, as the two clubs were drawn to face each other in the opening round of the upcoming Cyprus League by Stoiximan, leading both sides to avoid showing their tactical cards shortly before the competitive season begins.
Following the cancellation, AEL has moved to arrange an alternative friendly match against Krasava ENY Ypsonas, which is confirmed to take place at the Ammokostos-Epistrofi stadium on August 19. Meanwhile, Anorthosis continues its pre-season preparations under manager Nestor El Maestro, who has decided not to pursue a replacement friendly at this time, though the situation remains subject to change. The team recently completed its main training camp in Poland and is currently focusing on its upcoming fixtures against Nea Salamina on August 12, APOEL on August 16, and Karmiotissa on August 22.
