Sikorsky S-64 firefighting helicopter crashes in central Utah

A Sikorsky S-64 firefighting helicopter crashed on August 8, 2026, in a remote area of central Utah while engaged in efforts to extinguish a major wildfire. The aircraft, which carried two crew members, was supporting a response operation against a fire sparked by lightning on July 27.
