Tourists chased by hippo in Botswana
A group of tourists in Botswana narrowly escaped a charging hippopotamus while traveling by boat on a waterway. The incident occurred when the group encountered a solitary male hippo, a species known for being highly territorial. The boat captain initially slowed down to avoid disturbing the animal but quickly assessed the threat, instructing the passengers to hold on as he accelerated the vessel to outpace the charging creature.
Oznur Bell, one of the tourists present, captured the high-speed pursuit on video, which subsequently went viral on social media. She described the experience as one of the most frightening moments of her life. Experts note that adult male hippos can reach lengths of up to five meters and heights of 1.6 meters, posing a significant danger to those who enter their domain. No injuries were reported, as the captain managed to distance the boat from the animal successfully.
