Cyprus government ministers begin immediate work following cabinet reshuffle

Following a recent cabinet reshuffle in Cyprus, four newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers have bypassed a transition period to begin their duties immediately. As of early August 2026, the officials have engaged in a series of briefings, departmental meetings, and on-site visits to establish priorities for the remaining 18 months of the government's term.

Evi Tsolaki, the new Minister of Transport, is currently focusing on administrative briefings with department heads. Her primary policy goals include addressing daily public concerns, enhancing road safety, and resolving persistent traffic congestion issues. Tsolaki noted that she is skipping summer leave to prioritize these tasks.

Simultaneously, the new Minister of Agriculture, Christos Senekis, has held multiple extensive meetings to address critical outstanding issues. His immediate agenda includes finalizing compensation payments for livestock losses caused by foot-and-mouth disease, ensuring readiness to mitigate forest fire risks, and implementing sustainable water resource management. Both ministers have underscored that these challenges require continuous oversight and proactive intervention during the transition phase.
