Four-year-old child dies in beach bar pool accident in Paros

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, a four-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a popular beach bar on the island of Paros. Despite immediate efforts by staff and the intervention of an ambulance from the National Centre for Emergency Care (EKAB), the child could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the local health center.

Reports indicate the child was spotted by two young women, leading a bartender to pull him from the water. While the parents were present at the facility, they were reportedly not in the immediate vicinity of the child. Investigations revealed that the beach bar features two interconnected pools, and the owner of the establishment is listed as the designated lifeguard. Police initially detained the parents and the business owner.
