Cyprus U18 handball team defeated by Bulgaria at the EHF Championship II

The Cyprus U18 national handball team faced a 41-28 defeat against Bulgaria in their fifth match of the Men’s 18 EHF Championship II 2026, currently being held in Georgia. Bulgaria led 20-13 at halftime, maintaining their control throughout the second half to secure the victory.

Markos Karagiorgis was the standout performer for Cyprus, scoring six goals and earning the title of the match's most valuable player (MVP). The award was presented to him by Christoforos Theofanous, a Cypriot international handball observer appointed by the European Handball Federation. Other notable scorers for Cyprus included Avraam Stamatis and Anastasios Fterakidis, who each netted five goals, while Joseph Gioussellis and Theodoros Chatziandreas contributed three goals apiece. Iakovos Liassi, Anastasios Georgiou, and Ektoras Psyllidis added two goals each to the team's tally.
