Protest held at Limassol General Hospital over critically ill child

On August 10, 2026, dozens of citizens gathered outside the Limassol General Hospital to demand accountability regarding the medical treatment of a four-year-old boy named Marios. The child was diagnosed with viral meningitis and is currently in a state of brain death at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia. Statements have been taken from involved medical staff as authorities review the procedures followed before the child’s transfer to Nicosia.
