Christopher Nolan's Odyssey becomes his highest-grossing film

Christopher Nolan's cinematic adaptation of Homer's epic poem, Odyssey, has officially become the highest-grossing film in the director's career. Released by Universal on July 17, the film surpassed the 1 billion dollar threshold within its first month of release. As of August 10, 2026, the production has earned approximately 1.104 billion dollars worldwide, successfully overtaking Nolan’s 2012 record set by The Dark Knight Rises, which grossed 1.085 billion dollars.

The film features Matt Damon in the lead role as the King of Ithaca, Odysseus, portraying his arduous ten-year journey home following the fall of Troy. The production has shown particularly strong performance in international markets, with the United Kingdom and Ireland leading with 75.3 million dollars in revenue, followed by France, Italy, and Germany. This achievement marks the fifth major cinematic production of 2026 to cross the 1 billion dollar mark at the global box office.
