Sixty hazardous products identified in the EU Safety Gate system

The Cyprus Consumer Protection Service has announced that 60 products posing health and safety risks to consumers have been officially registered in the European Union's Safety Gate system. These items were identified across various EU member states and subsequently reported to the centralized portal to alert national authorities and the public.

To manage the identification and potential withdrawal of these goods from the Cypriot market, the products have been distributed among several regulatory departments. Specifically, the Electromechanical Services Department is overseeing 17 products, the Consumer Protection Service is handling 16, and the Department of Labour Inspection is responsible for 13. Remaining items are assigned to the Department of Road Transport (8), Health Services (2), the Department of Environment (2), the Mines Service (1), and the Ministry of Interior (1). Consumers are advised to visit the official Safety Gate website to verify if specific products they own are listed, in order to avoid potential hazards and take appropriate measures for returns or disposal.
