Alexia Potamitou joins the DISY government monitoring council
On August 10, 2026, the Democratic Rally (DISY) party announced that Alexia Potamitou has joined its Government Work Monitoring Council. During a meeting held the same day, DISY President Annita Demetriou formally welcomed Potamitou, who will now oversee the social welfare portfolio within the council.
Potamitou succeeds Tina Pavlou, who recently vacated this role after being appointed as the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare in the administration of President Nikos Christodoulides. During the meeting, Demetriou praised Potamitou’s academic background and professional experience, emphasizing that the social welfare sector requires deep empathy and an understanding of the practical needs of citizens.
In her statement, Potamitou expressed her commitment to enhancing the daily lives of citizens and upholding human dignity. She will be responsible for tracking government policies and developing concrete, human-centered proposals. Her appointment is part of the party's ongoing efforts to provide systematic oversight of government initiatives in the social sector.
