Cyprus police report on burglary and theft statistics for the first half of 2026

Official police statistics released on August 10, 2026, indicate that 723 cases of theft and burglary were reported in Cyprus during the first six months of the year. Of the total incidents, 449 were categorized as burglaries, with 302 cases solved, while 274 were thefts, of which 134 were solved.

Limassol recorded the highest volume of both crimes, registering 162 burglaries and 89 thefts. Other districts reported varying figures: Nicosia saw 85 burglaries and 68 thefts, Larnaca recorded 87 burglaries and 52 thefts, Paphos had 52 burglaries and 37 thefts, Famagusta reported 46 burglaries and 18 thefts, and Morphou had 17 burglaries and 10 thefts. The overall resolution rate for these criminal activities stands at approximately 60.3 percent.

These statistics follow a broader historical trend showing a decline in the number of registered burglaries across the island. Previously, police records showed 1,091 burglary cases in 2023 and 966 in 2024, suggesting a general downward trajectory in property crime incidents compared to prior years.
