Patticheio Park in Larnaca reopens after major renovation
The Patticheio Park area in Larnaca was officially handed over to local authorities in early August 2026, marking the completion of an extensive renovation project. Initiated on October 23, 2023, the project had a total budget of 5.3 million euros and aimed to connect the urban environment with the neighboring Alyki salt lake while prioritizing ecological preservation.
The redesign features a circular, elevated pedestrian bridge surrounding the existing amphitheater, offering new walking and viewing paths. Additional amenities include a new cafe-restaurant, a children's playground, and a botanical garden filled with aromatic plants. The park also provides two dedicated observation points for visitors to view the salt lake and host events, alongside updated infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, enhanced landscaping, and new informational signage throughout the site.
The primary focus of this development was to foster a sustainable relationship between park visitors and the natural surroundings of the protected Alyki area. By integrating modern recreational facilities with the natural landscape, the municipality aims to establish the location as a key cultural and social hub for the city.
