Divers discover 162-year-old bottle of Guinness in shipwreck off Dover

Belgian diver Stefan Panis and his partner Eddie Hoozee discovered a 162-year-old glass bottle of Guinness while exploring a shipwreck off the coast of Dover, UK. The find, which dates back to 1864, was identified after the pair brought the object to the surface and cleaned it, revealing the iconic logo of the brewing company.

Panis, an experienced diver with over 40 years of expertise, has reached out to Guinness regarding the discovery. He suspects that the bottle is part of a larger crate containing at least 24 units, many of which may still be buried in the sand surrounding the wreckage. He currently plans to return to the site to recover the remaining items, noting the potential that the century-old beer could theoretically still be drinkable.
