Cyprus cultural decentralization program hosts musical events across rural regions

As part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme, several rural communities across Cyprus are hosting a series of musical performances. The production titled "Rebetiko – World Cultural Heritage," which celebrates the UNESCO-recognized genre, features renowned musician Giorgos Tzortzis alongside Konstantina Fella, Panagiota Fella, Michalis Fellas, Kyriakos Georgiades, and Angelos Ioannou. The tour includes performances in Koilani on August 11, Mitsero on August 12, Prasteio Avdimou on August 14, and Arsos on August 15.

In addition to the rebetiko tribute, the cultural calendar includes a celebration of the three-stringed bouzouki in Kampi Farmakas and contemporary dance performances by the Selas Dance Company in Lagoudera. Simultaneously, singer-songwriter Alkinoos Ioannidis is touring with a new musical ensemble, performing at the Kyriakou Pelagia Municipal Amphitheatre in Paralimni on August 12 and the Tala Amphitheatre in Paphos on August 14. These events are supported by various local authorities and the Deputy Ministry of Culture, aimed at enriching the cultural life of residents in remote areas during the summer season.
