Rebetiko music tribute tour announced as part of cultural decentralisation program

A series of musical performances titled “Rebetiko – World Cultural Heritage” is currently touring across rural communities in Cyprus as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme. The tour highlights the genre of rebetiko, which is officially recognised by UNESCO as an element of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The performances feature renowned musician Giorgos Tzortzis, whose extensive expertise is intended to provide authenticity to the production. The ensemble includes Konstantina Fella (vocals, baglamas, violin), Panagiota Fella (vocals, percussion), Michalis Fellas (vocals, bouzouki), Kyriakos Georgiades (vocals, guitar), and Angelos Ioannou (vocals, bouzouki).

The concert schedule includes performances at various venues: Kampi Farmakas on August 11 at 8:30 p.m., Koilani on August 11 at 9:00 p.m., the “Kostis Damianou” Amphitheatre in Mitsero on August 12 at 8:30 p.m., the Community Cafe in Prasteio Avdimou on August 14 at 8:30 p.m., and the village square in Arsos on August 15 at 8:30 p.m. This initiative aims to promote Greek folk music and the historical significance of the three-string bouzouki throughout the region.
