Police officer found dead in his patrol vehicle in Agios Dimitrios

A police officer, born in 1988 and serving in the Athens Patrol Sub-directorate, was found dead inside a locked, unmarked police vehicle on August 11, 2026. The body was discovered at the intersection of Pikrodafnis and Vouliagmenis streets in the Agios Dimitrios area of Athens, following a search initiated after he failed to report for his shift on Monday morning.

The victim had been reported missing by his partner on Monday at approximately 21:00, after he was last seen leaving their home in Neos Kosmos at 22:30 the previous night. Initial findings indicate that the officer had abrasions on his face and neck, as well as bruising on his arms. Investigators noted that his mobile phone signal was traced to a telecommunications tower in the vicinity of the discovery site.

Authorities, including a medical examiner and representatives from the Organized Crime Division, have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. According to statements from his partner, he had no known health issues and there were no reported altercations prior to his disappearance.
