Akamas Municipality launches regeneration project for Peyia town centre
The Akamas Municipality has initiated a comprehensive masterplan aimed at the full regeneration and aesthetic upgrade of the historic core of Peyia. On August 11, 2026, the local authority formalized this project by signing a contract with an architectural firm to provide professional consultancy and study services for the redevelopment.
The contract for these services is valued at approximately 250,000 euros. Following the completion of the masterplan and necessary preparatory studies, the total construction cost for the implementation of the project is estimated at 5.5 million euros. Mayor Marinos Lambrou noted that the intervention seeks to improve the functional and aesthetic quality of the area while preserving its cultural heritage and architectural identity.
A significant component of the regeneration efforts will focus on the Vrysi ton Pegeiotisson, a renowned local landmark. The municipal authority has already secured an agreement for the conservation and promotion of this historical site as part of the broader development initiative, which aims to better serve the needs of the local community.
