Lubomir Satka arrives in Nicosia for Omonoia transfer
Slovak central defender Lubomir Satka arrived in Nicosia, Cyprus, on the evening of August 10, 2026, to finalize a move to Omonoia. The 30-year-old, who has made 41 appearances for the Slovak national team and most recently played for Samsunspor, has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the Cypriot champions. He is currently undergoing mandatory medical examinations, after which the signing of a contract and an official announcement are expected to follow.
The transfer represents a significant development, as Satka was a primary target for the Greek club Aris Thessaloniki. Reports indicate that Aris had offered the player a three-year contract worth approximately 1.3 million euros. Despite this higher financial offer, Satka chose the project proposed by Omonoia. The player has a diverse professional background, having developed in the youth academies of Dubnica and Newcastle United, with further experience gained through loan spells at York City and Dunajska Streda.
