Omonia FC strengthens defense with Lubomir Satka and Jean-Kevin Duverne
Cypriot champion Omonia Nicosia has officially signed 30-year-old Slovakian central defender Lubomir Satka on a contract spanning two years with an option for an additional season. The deal was finalized on August 11, 2026, following the player's arrival in Nicosia to complete medical examinations. Satka, who has 41 international caps, joins from the Turkish club Samsunspor and previously played for Lech Poznan and Newcastle United.
Reports indicate that Satka was a primary target for Aris Thessaloniki, which reportedly offered a three-year contract worth approximately 1.3 million euros. Despite the higher financial offer from the Greek side, the defender opted to join the Omonia project. In addition to the acquisition of Satka, Omonia is also moving to strengthen its defensive flank with the addition of Jean-Kevin Duverne, who recently became a free agent after his departure from Nantes.
These defensive reinforcements follow Omonia's strategic efforts to bolster their squad as they prepare for the upcoming football season. With Satka having signed and been assigned the number 37 jersey, the club now shifts its focus to integrating both players into the team's defensive structure.
