TechIsland launches SafeIsland CY wildfire alert app

On August 11, 2026, the TechIsland organization launched SafeIsland CY, a new free mobile application for iOS and Android designed to enhance wildfire management in Cyprus. Developed by Brickworks Games, the app serves as a community-powered tool that allows residents to report potential fire threats, receive real-time location-based alerts, and access safety information via an interactive map.

The initiative was established following the destructive wildfire season of 2025 to bolster national prevention and response efforts. During the current pilot phase, Kitas Weather will administer the platform, providing necessary updates and verifying user-submitted information to ensure accuracy. The tool is specifically targeted at residents in rural and mountainous areas where rapid information sharing is critical for public safety.

The pilot program will allow developers and partners to evaluate the platform's performance under real-life conditions. Stakeholders plan to collect feedback from users and local communities to refine the app's features and ensure it effectively supports national wildfire preparedness measures.
