Two men charged following the death of a Cypriot woman in London

In January 2024, 28-year-old Cypriot national Laura Sone-Demetrious was struck and killed by a vehicle while using a pedestrian crossing on the A10 road in Enfield, North London. She was accompanied by her two dogs, both of which also died in the collision. Evidence presented in court indicated that the vehicle involved fled the scene following the incident. Police were able to identify the victim using an identification tag found on one of her dogs.

Two men, 20-year-old Sedor Olmez and 31-year-old Roderick Mirzakhanian, both residents of Tottenham, have been brought before the Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court to face charges related to the crash. Both defendants are accused of causing death by dangerous driving. Additionally, Sedor Olmez faces a separate charge of driving without insurance in connection with the event, which took place on January 9, 2024. The legal proceedings are ongoing as the court works to address the fatal incident that has deeply affected the victim’s family and the local community.
