Man arrested for domestic violence in Mia Milia
On July 17, a serious domestic violence incident occurred in the occupied area of Mia Milia. A man allegedly beat his wife following a verbal dispute, causing several injuries, including a ruptured eardrum in her left ear. The assault involved the suspect striking the victim on various parts of her body and slapping her twice on the side of her head.
The victim filed a formal complaint on August 10, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect. During his appearance before the court, presided over by judge Zehra Yalkut Bilget, the accused admitted to the act and expressed regret. The court ordered his release pending trial under strict conditions, including a travel ban, a cash bail of 100,000 Turkish lira, and the requirement of two guarantors who signed bonds totaling 700,000 Turkish lira each.
The case highlights ongoing issues regarding domestic abuse reports within the occupied territories. The suspect remains free while awaiting further legal proceedings, subject to the imposed financial and travel restrictions.
