Tender launched for completion of the Vasilikos LNG terminal

The Natural Gas Infrastructure Company of Cyprus (ETYFA) has launched a restricted tender process to complete the construction of the Vasilikos LNG terminal. The official tender documents were issued on July 30, with an initial deadline for expressions of interest set for September 9. Interested parties have until August 26 to submit questions and request clarifications regarding the terms of the project.

Following feedback from potential bidders who raised concerns about the tight timeline, ETYFA indicated a willingness to grant a deadline extension if requested formally during the clarification phase. The project utilizes a restricted procedure, requiring a prequalification stage where contractors must first apply for participation. Only those who pass this initial screening will be invited to submit detailed technical and financial proposals.

The completion of the terminal is estimated to cost approximately €180 million, with a projected construction duration of two years. This process is part of ongoing efforts to resolve the infrastructure delays at the site, which also remain linked to unresolved issues surrounding the floating LNG storage and regasification unit, the Promitheas.
