Four-year-old girl rescued after falling from fifth-floor balcony in Poland

A four-year-old girl was saved after falling from a fifth-floor balcony in the city of Łomża, Poland, on August 10, 2026. Bystanders noticed the child unattended on the balcony for approximately one hour and, anticipating a fall, managed to position a blanket beneath the ledge. The blanket successfully cushioned the impact, preventing life-threatening injuries, and the child was subsequently transported to a hospital in Białystok for medical evaluation.

Local authorities launched an investigation into the incident, which revealed that the girl’s 27-year-old mother was asleep inside the apartment at the time of the fall.
