Damascus: Crowds in the streets celebrate the death sentence of Assad (video)

On Tuesday, August 11, crowds gathered in Damascus and other Syrian cities to celebrate the death sentences issued in absentia against former president Bashar al-Assad, his brother Maher al-Assad, and Atef Najib. The Fourth Criminal Court of Damascus found the defendants guilty of intentional homicide, torture, and crimes against the Syrian people. Families of victims gathered outside the courthouse to express their satisfaction with the unanimous judicial decision following several months of legal proceedings regarding systemic abuses dating back to the 2011 uprising.
