Tsirion stadium renovation and licensing update

Kyriakos Tsolakis, chairman of the GSO (Limassol Gymnastic Association), stated that active efforts are underway to ensure the Tsirion stadium meets the Licensing Authority's requirements for the upcoming football season. While no specific completion date has been set, two work crews are currently on-site performing upgrades, including improvements to the eastern grandstand.

On August 5, the GSO received a supplemental letter from the Licensing Authority requesting further documentation regarding the stadium canopy, an updated evacuation plan, and operating permits. A significant portion of the ongoing work involves the facility's 44 security cameras, as officials must verify whether the units have rotation capabilities. Tsolakis noted that specialized personnel have been hired to address these technical requirements. Although the administration remains optimistic that the stadium will be ready in time for the league premiere, Tsolakis declined to provide a definitive timeline for final certification, noting that such projections fall under the expertise of the project engineers.

The stadium has been under intense scrutiny regarding its infrastructure to comply with safety regulations before the start of the new competitive season. The current efforts follow a previous effort to submit documentation, which the authority deemed incomplete, specifically concerning operational protocols for the facility.
