Remedica conducts mass voluntary recall of pharmaceutical products

Pharmaceutical company Remedica began a voluntary, preventive recall of specific medicine batches on August 10, 2026, due to stability test results falling outside standard parameters. The Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) and Pharmaceutical Services have clarified that this is a precautionary measure and not related to toxicity or harm to patients. As of August 13, the recall was extended to include additional batches of Clonotril 2 mg.

The recall has caused concern among patients, particularly due to the timing coinciding with summer holidays, when many doctors and pharmacies are unavailable. The HIO has categorized the 12 affected products into two groups: those for which an alternative is available and seven products, including specific formulations of Clonotril, Cloxacillin, Hydralazine, Epsitron, and Methyldopa, for which no direct substitute currently exists. Health authorities strongly urge patients not to discontinue their treatment independently, advising them to consult their treating physicians to identify alternative therapeutic options. Efforts are ongoing to secure alternative stocks, and the HIO continues to issue instructions to healthcare providers to manage the transition smoothly.
